The young adult, identified as Harrison Sullivan, had a warrant from local authorities for missing a legal hearing after a accident in Virginia Water, Surrey in March 2024.
Authorities had earlier issued an appeal for leads after the driver of a supercar linked to a crash with a different vehicle fled the location.
Mr Sullivan, who missed a scheduled hearing in late autumn, had since posted content on social media from the Middle East.
A statement from Surrey Police on Monday stated: "One young man from Essex was taken into custody on Friday for failing to appear at a legal proceeding for reckless operation of a vehicle.
"The individual was presented at Guildford Magistrates' Court on Saturday and is being held prior to a subsequent hearing at Staines Magistrates' Court on Tuesday."
